Always-on iPhone 14 Pro display and M2 iPad Pro due in late 2022

According to a rumour on Apple's product revisions, the iPhone 14 Pro range will benefit from an always-on display that showcases the new lock screen widgets of iOS 16, while iPad Pro changes could include M2-equipped devices. Code found in iOS 16 beta versions appears to support prior allegations that Apple would incorporate an always-on display in the Pro family of iPhone 14 devices. Even though it has reportedly been in the works for a while, according to a report, the arrival of lock screen adjustments has made the modification necessary.

According to Mark Gurman's story in Sunday's "Power On" newsletter from Bloomberg, the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to display the same lock screen widgets as the iPhone 14 range. While the screen's brightness and framerate are kept low, these features will be visible, and a setting will stop sensitive data from showing up on the display. In addition to the display, Gurman claims that the Pro versions will also receive updates to their front-facing camera, rear camera system, slimmer bezels, A16 chip, and pill-shaped cutout and hole punch in place of the customary notch. The non-Pro iPhone 14 models will reportedly experience fewer modifications, including the A15 chip remaining in place for another calendar year. The 6.7-inch model will take the place of the 5.4-inch tiny model.

Although a switch to USB-C is anticipated for 2023, all models will continue to use Lightning for physical connectivity. Moving on to the iPad, Gurman predicts that a new entry-level device equipped with the A14 processor and 5G connectivity would debut in the fall. The 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models will reportedly receive an update later in 2022, sporting M2 chips that are compatible with Apple's Stage Manager. When the new models, J617 and J620, are released, the number of models that support the new multi-tasking system will increase from three to five.

Gurman predicts that in a year or two, Apple will release an even greater iPad model. That device might have a display that is between 14 and 15 inches in size, which is a significant improvement from 12.9.
